I love testing new beauty products, especially if they are Vegan! 😀 I received new deodorant from Salt of the Earth and I tried them all for a few weeks to see if I would like them. Read my review here!Â
I haven’t heard of the brand before but that’s probably because they weren’t available here in The Netherlands. They just launched their products over here and they are now available in many drugstores like Kruidvat and Etos., but ofcourse if you live in a different country you can check their website to see if they are available near you.
Now let’s see what products they have in their collection:
Salt of the Earth Classic Stick 7,49
The Classic Stick is different from other deodorants that I’ve used in the past. Usually you have a spray, roller or stick that you can twist but this is a hard stick that you don’t have to twist to get it out of the bottle. You need to apply it on damp skin or apply a tiny bit of water on the stick and then apply it on your skin. In the beginning it was a bit weird doing it this way, I either didn’t use enough water or too much but after using it a few time I got the hang of it.
Salt of the Earth Natural Spray 7,49
The name says it all, it’s a natural spray. So no perfume and only natural ingredients.
Salt of the Earth Pure Aura Spray Lavender & Vanilla / Melon & Cucumber 8,49
Melon & Cucumber smells soooo fresh! Lavender & Vanilla also is really nice, I really like vanilla scented items so to be honest it’s hard to pick my favourite from these two. Maybe Melon & Cucumber is nice for hot summer days when you want something with a fresh scent and the other one for “normal” days, but both smell really nice!
Salt of the Earth Rock Chick Stick 7,49
This is the version for kids. To be honest, I don’t think there is a big difference with the Classic Stick. I can’t find a difference in the ingredients and I can’t find a difference in the product when I’m using it. Maybe it’s the packaging that’s more appealing for kids?
All products:
– Are made of 100% natural ingredients
– Don’t leave white marks or yellow stains on your clothes
– Are Cruelty Free and Vegan
What do I think of the products? Right now I have mixed feelings. I like both Pure Aura sprays but I prefer deodorants without perfume (although the perfume is from natural oils), so you would think the Natural Spray would be perfect for me but for some reason it clogged my pores!? Every time I use it the next day I have one or two bumps underneath my skin, they are hard and they hurt but I don’t see any redness. I’ve stopped using the spray and went back to my usual deodorant and after a few days the bumps were gone. I’ve tried the spray again and the next day I got a few bumps underneath my skin again so I stopped using it. The weird thing is that I don’t have this problem with the Aura Sprays.
The sticks are okay, I like that they are Vegan and I will definitely use them until they are finished. I’m not sure about the process though, my skin is too dry to apply them right away so I need to make them wet every time and to be honest, if I’m in a rush I don’t like it. Maybe if I use them longer it won’t bother me anymore but for now I still grab other deodorants when I need one that’s quick.
Another thing that I’m not sure about is the ingredient Potassium Alum and it is something that I want to mention. Aluminium in deodorants are not good so you need to avoid it at all times. If you research Potassium Alum you will find that either people aren’t sure about it or try to avoid talking about it. There isn’t enough information and research about it to say it is a safe ingredient so for now I do try to avoid it when buying a new deodorant.
I didn’t experience any problems when it comes to the durability of the products. When I apply it in the morning I don’t have to apply any deodorant during the day. I am somebody that doesn’t sweat a lot so I can’t say anything about durability for people who sweat heavily during the day.
Love,
Demelza
